Malenia’s Valkyrie Prosthesis

„Heed my words; I’m Malenia, Blade of Miquella… and I have never known defeat!”

Introduction:

Since our very first steps in the Lands Between, We were truely amazed by every aspect of its art design. From the smallest cave, to the mythical capital Lyndell, we knew we were part of something great, something legendary. We were also sure, that we needed to capture the essence of this word though one of our own creations. No doubt, Malenia was one of the most challenging encounters of them all, but nonetheless her story of origin and her character design was the two elements that really caught our attention. This project was one of our dearest and also longest. It took more than 3 month – from the 3D modeling and sculpting to the printing and postprocess – to achieve the outstanding authentic look. The look that even Malenia herself would appreciate. 

Materials and parts:

Every last part of the arm was designed and created from scratch by Dante’s Workshop. Our goal was to keep the iconic design of the Valkyrie Prosthesis, while maintain every aspect of its articulations, including the working sword holding mechanism inside. Thanks that, you can move, rotate and bend everything just as you would expect from the arm. The inner core of the upper arm is made from stainless steel, just as like the connection elements. The 3D printed parts – which takes almost a month to print-  are made from a high grade PLA filament. For the special antique gold effect, we have needed to develop a new weathering technique, which delivers a slight shiny and metallic but also a used, battle hardened look. Every last detail is hand painted by our skilled european artists. In our philosophy: ‘As you look at an object, you can immediately tell that it has a story or not’ and this one has a lot to say… 

Size:

The arm itself is a 1:1, true to size representation of Malenia’s Valkyrie Prosthesis. Therefore it is slightly larger then an adult’s arm.
